Raja Rammohunpur Campus (H.Q.)

The University of North Bengal was established by an Act of the Legislature of West Bengal in 1962 with the mission “to encourage and provide for instruction for teaching, training and research in various branches of learning and course of study; to promote advancement and dissemination of knowledge and learning and to extend higher education to meet the growing needs of society.”

The University of North Bengal campus covers an area of nearly 331 acres of land at the foothills of high Himalaya in close proximity of vast plains around it with a fascinating glimpse of the Kanchenjunga peak, tea gardens and forest cover.

The University of North Bengal has acquired 36.138 acres of land and has already started setting up another campus at Jalpaiguri by the side of the campus of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College for widening the dimension and scope of Higher Education and Research in one more Centre for Higher Education through modern studies for spreading advancement of learning in various branches of Humanities, Science and Technology in order to reach the people of this region in a bigger way so that they can have better and easier access to Higher Education.

Jalpaiguri Campus

The Jalpaiguri campus is an extended campus of the University of North Bengal and was inaugurated on 16th August, 2013. The second campus was established at Jalpaiguri so that the people of this region can have better and easier access to Higher education. The University of North Bengal, Jalpaiguri campus has a sprawling campus spread over 36 acres of land at Jalpaiguri. At present there are three buildings at the Jalpaiguri campus i.e. Science building, Arts building and Technology building. There are four departments offering post graduate program in Bengali, English, Sanskrit and Geography & Applied Geography.

The academic departments started functioning from the academic session 2013-14. The academic supports like teaching and research are being provided by the Faculties of North Bengal. The Office of the Registrar at Jalpaiguri campus offers administrative support and acts as a bridge between the two campuses. The Library at NBU, Jalpaiguri campus provides students with the materials and services they need to improve their knowledge. Also, the construction of two separate hostels for boys and girls has commenced from the year 2020 for providing boarding facility to the students.

Saltlake Campus

The North Bengal University has a campus having G-4 Buildings located in DD-27/C, Sector-I, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700064 on a 13 Kathas (nearly an acre) of land owned by the University. This satellite campus of the University is strategically located at the heart of Kolkata, very near to City center and can be reached with communication ease.

It is the Principal liason office of the Vice-Chancellor and duly staffed. Two Floors (each 3000 sq.ft.) have been used for official Guest House purposes, there is arrangement of Meetings Rooms, Interview Rooms and Conference Rooms including Dinning and Kitchen, Office Rooms and other purposes.

In view of the fact that the location of North Bengal University is nearly 600 km off Calcutta, the Kolkata Guest House cum Administrative Office immensely helps the Stakeholders of the University. As a part of fraternal support services, we extend supports to the newly upcoming Universities by lending some parts of our infrastructures of Kolkata office in the interest of higher education of West Bengal in general and North Bengal Region in particular.
